Cheated out of 44 days rent
We have been happy with this facility until it was time for us to move out. Our rent is due on the 19th of the month. I notified the facility that we were getting ready to move our things out on the 5th, only to be told that the rental contract requires a 30 day notice. So the free month specials this facility runs frequently is not really an free month because the 30 day notice in the rental agreement will cancel out your free month on the tail- end. Since I gave notice on the 5th, I was expecting to have to pay the pro-rated portion of my rent from the 19th to the 5th. But they informed me then they do not prorate any rent, so I would be paying to the 19th. Meaning not only did I get cheated out of an extra 30 days rent, but they seemed OK adding an additional 14 days on top of that.
What they are doing may be legal, although I am still looking into that. But it is not right. I will be paying rent on empty units for 44 days.
I suggest you find another facility; most will let you move out when you want with out charging you an extra 30 days rent on an empty unit (or in my case 44 days).
