Safety

Your safety is important to SpareFoot. Please read through the following tips and recommendations.

Tips for Listers

Purchase the custom lease agreement

SpareFoot recommends purchasing the custom lease agreement to be used between you and the renter. You are only charged for the lease agreement when someone agrees to rent your space. The lease agreement protects you and your property and legally binds the transaction. Please see our lease agreement page for more information.

Provide a secure space

To ensure the safety of your renter's belongings, SpareFoot encourages you to purchase a hasp for your storage space, allowing your renter to lock up their belongings. This extra level of security makes your space more desirable to potential renters.

Know what you are storing

SpareFoot recommends that you go over which items the renter is storing to ensure that the contents are safe and that they will not cause any damage to your space.

Receiving Payment

SpareFoot does not oversee monthly storage payments. Although you are free to set this up however you would like, SpareFoot recommends using PayPal.

Tips for Renters

Read user feedback

When deciding to rent somebody's space, check their Feedback rating. This includes the number of successful rentals, the number of times they have cancelled an agreement, as well as comments left by other users.

Utilize the Q&A board attached to every listing

Before agreeing to rent somebody's space, SpareFoot recommends asking the lister questions via the bulletin board found on every listing. All questions and answers are posted publicly, and it is a good idea to read through previously posted questions and answers.

Protect your belongings

If you are storing your belongs in cardboard boxes, we recommend sealing them with Evidence tape, which prevents tampering from going unnoticed.

If you are storing your belongings in a space that offers a hasp, SpareFoot strongly recommends that you purchase a lock to protect your stuff.

Executing Payment

SpareFoot does not oversee monthly storage payments. This decision is made between you and the lister (your new landlord).
