SpareFoot AdNetwork

What is the SpareFoot AdNetwork?

The AdNetwork is a collection of websites that help consumers find, compare and reserve self-storage units. It includes SpareFoot.com, SelfStorage.com, SelfStorageDeals.com, SelfStorageFinders.com and over 50 partners including Apartments.com and uShip.com. As an AdNetwork facility client, your available units are listed on all of these sites. It's an easy way to advertise your facility across the web. The AdNetwork is the largest service of its kind - our sites receive more visits per month than all of our competitors combined.

What's the risk in signing up for the SpareFoot AdNetwork?

We guarantee AdNetwork will bring your storage facility more tenants. If not, you can cancel anytime with no obligation or penalty. There are no contracts, and you get free setup and a lifetime of free friendly support. You’ll never be charged reservation fees for tenants who end up not moving in.

What does it cost?

AdNetwork is $50 per month, plus move-ins starting at $50. Enjoy unlimited reservations, and only pay for those who actually move in. Our tiered pricing model is based on unit sizes, so your move-in charges are proportional to the revenue you expect from the tenant.

With a standard bid, pay just $50 per move-in on small units under 50 square feet. Regular units sized at 50 square feet or larger are $75 per move-in, while larger units at 100 square feet or larger are $125 per move-in.

How do I keep track of which units are reserved through the AdNetwork?

When you sign up for AdNetwork, we set you up with a MySpareFoot account. MySpareFoot seamlessly integrates with your accounts on SiteLink, Centershift, Domico or QuikStor. If you do not use one of these management software, MySpareFoot allows you to manually enter and track your unit inventory and pricing, which will display when customers search for storage in your area on SpareFoot.com or our partner sites.

What if a tenant reserves a unit but doesn't move in?

When a potential tenant reserves one of your units through AdNetwork, you'll receive an email stating their intent. At the beginning of each month, we'll send you a statement listing all of the reservations made to your facility. At that point, you will have five business days to dispute any reservation for which a tenant did not move in. You will not be charged for those reservations.

How is my facility's ranking (placement in SpareFoot search results relative to my competitors) determined?

The default ranking formula is our own algorithm, and it works like this:
Facility Rank = Move-In Bid x SpareFoot Score

What is the SpareFoot Score?

The higher your SpareFoot Score, the higher you rank in search results. Score is determined by the following factors:

  • Distance from where the customer is searching (closer means higher score)
  • Your unit prices relative to local competitors (lower prices mean higher score)
  • Historical reservation rate at your facility (the more reservations your facility generates, the higher your score)
  • Historical move-in rate at your facility (the more reservations that turn into actual tenants, the higher your score)
  • Quality of your listing (photos, amenities, office hours, access hours, admin fee, etc.)

How can I list my facility on the SpareFoot AdNetwork?

Signing up is easy. Just click here and submit the form to create your MySpareFoot account (accessible any time at my.sparefoot.com). Then fill in your facility information, and you can sync your account with SiteLink, Centershift, Domico or QuikStor (or manually upload your available units).

SpareFoot GeoPages

What are SpareFoot GeoPages?

GeoPages are optimized landing pages that are proven to turn storage-seeking consumers into your new tenants. We optimize and direct your Google Places page to this landing page to help you capitalize on local search traffic.

What is the benefit of using SpareFoot GeoPages?

Facilities with GeoPages are better equipped to turn local web searchers into tenants. The key is a simple, customizable landing page that makes it extremely easy for visitors to find and reserve a storage unit at your facility. We've tested the conversion-optimized design and tweaked it based on the behavior of over 6.5 million users visiting our web properties every month.

SpareFoot GeoPages clients also have more control over the online process, including phone call tracking. You'll be able to monitor every step from initial Google search to move-in day: How many visitors clicked your Google Places listing, how many visitors clicked the link to your GeoPages landing page, how many visitors called in after viewing the page, and how those calls were handled.

Another benefit is that GeoPages take no extra work to keep updated. As long as you keep your management software (SiteLink, Centershift, Domico or QuikStor) up-to-date, SpareFoot will pull information about availability, pricing and amenities directly from there.

What's the risk in signing up for SpareFoot GeoPages?

There is no risk— get your first 30 days absolutely free with no commitment. If you don't like the service for any reason, simply cancel before the end of the 30-day trial and you won't owe us a dime. Then the agreement is month-to-month, with no setup fees or contracts.

What is the price of GeoPages after the free 30-day trial?

GeoPages costs $50 per month, and there are never any fees for the unlimited tenants you'll gain through the service. Unlike the SpareFoot AdNetwork, which costs $75 per tenant, our GeoPages and SiteBuilder products are fixed monthly costs.

Does SpareFoot GeoPages replace my current website?

No. GeoPages is a supplement to your existing website and it does not live on your own domain. However, some customers opt to redirect their current website to their GeoPages landing page to improve conversion rate.

If I sign up for SpareFoot GeoPages and SpareFoot claims my Google Places listing, will I lose ownership of my listing?

Absolutely not. If you ever decide to cancel your GeoPages service, your Google Places listing is yours to keep and maintain how you please. Unlike some of our competitors, we never retain ownership of Google accounts.

SpareFoot SiteBuilder

What is SpareFoot SiteBuilder?

For facility owners who do not currently have a website, SiteBuilder is a low-cost, easy-to-use website builder that will have you up and running online in less than an hour. You'll customize your site within a design template that has been optimized to turn visitors into new tenants. And you'll never pay for the unlimited reservations customers book through your SiteBuilder site.

What is the risk in signing up for SpareFoot SiteBuilder?

There is no risk. You'll get your first 30 days absolutely free, with no commitment. If you don't like the service for any reason, simply cancel before the end of the 30-day trial and you won't owe us anything. Then the agreement is month-to-month, with no setup fees or contracts. It includes complimentary claiming and optimization of your Google Places listing.

How is SiteBuilder different than GeoPages?

SiteBuilder and GeoPages use the same high-conversion template for the design of your page. However, while GeoPages is focused on converting Google Places map traffic into customers, SiteBuilder is meant to provide your facility with a “home” or headquarters on the web. For an additional $25 per month, SiteBuilder provides you with a custom domain name, so it's easy to refer visitors to the URL— for example, www.exampleselfstorage.com. So SiteBuilder is most appropriate if you don't have a website or if you need a new website because your current one is outdated or hard to manage. If you're happy with your current website, GeoPages helps bolster your web marketing efforts by establishing your presence where most self-storage customers begin their online search for storage.

SpareFoot Booking Widget

What is the Booking Widget?

The SpareFoot Booking Widget is a free tool that helps storage customers reserve units at your facility directly through your website. Simply sign up for a MySpareFoot account, copy the snippet of code from the Booking Widget section, and paste it into your site's code wherever you want the Widget button to appear. When web visitors click that button, they'll see your available units and can make a free reservation online. You will receive each reservation's name, phone number, and email address, so you can follow up with potential tenants and ensure they move in.

How does the Booking Widget know which of my units are available?

As a MySpareFoot user, you'll sync inventory information from your management software (like SiteLink or Centershift). As long as you keep your management software updated, the Booking Widget will display current availability, amenities and pricing of your units to customers. You may also manually add and manage unit availability data. It works the same way for our AdNetwork, SiteBuilder and GeoPages products.

What's the catch? Is it really free?

The Booking Widget is and always will be free. In return, we ask that you include a link back to our site on the page where the Booking Widget appears. A small link below the button is included automatically in the code, but the code can be customized to remove this link— as long as you replace it elsewhere on the page.
