A true Renaissance woman, Genivieve (aka Geni) does a little bit of everything here at SpareFoot. I’m not the only one who has noticed the Office Manager’s extraordinary work ethic, as CEO Chuck recently presented her with the BigFoot Award, an award given out every month to an employee who has performed exceptionally well. A recent transplant to Austin from upstate New York, Geni now stars in our first Meet The SpareFeet profile.

When asked about the award, the always-modest Geni said, “Chuck’s really great about showing that he’s appreciative of the work everyone does here at SpareFoot. I think this BigFoot award is just another way for him to do that.”

Last month was a particularly busy time for Geni, who holds an Economics degree from William Smith College. She was responsible for organizing the 2012 Summer Startup Olympics, an all-day event where hundreds of athletes from eight Austin-based tech startups competed to raise money for charities. She worked with the charities, corporate sponsors, caterers, DJs, clean-up crews, bartenders, and the seven other participating companies to get everyone ready for the event. She did a phenomenal job, and the day was a huge success.

Her next big project is Spare Beats, our second annual DJ showcase and party at SXSW Interactive. I was amazed to learn she is already working on this event, considering SXSW is not for another nine months. “A lot goes into these events,” Geni explained to me. “Spare Beats is huge, and the next one is going to be awesome.” She also has a meeting next month with representatives from other Austin software companies to discuss the upcoming 2013 Winter Startup Olympics.

Of course, all of this event planning is in addition to her usual day-to-day work at SpareFoot, which involves handling all of our human resources and office management needs. Geni is an absolute phenom, and it’s no wonder she was last month’s BigFoot recipient. We are really lucky to have her at SpareFoot!
