We REALLY don't like going there!
First of all, our stuff has been fine. So if all you're looking for is basic, cheap storage, this might be it. But this place is CREEPY! The old elevator is gross, the place seems dirty, and it never seems to be open when we need to get something. If I could turn back time, I would fork out the extra $15 a month and go somewhere else.
The building is old and quirky to say the least. Lighting has been removed from each of the storage lockers because it was a fire hazard, probably due to the antiquated wiring (it was recommended that I bring a headlamp if I need to see better in my unit). There are only two bays for pulling in your car. The street this is located on is full of homeless and trash. It's difficult to have faith that your things are well protected. The building seems like it could burn up or fall down at any moment. The one bright spot is the very helpful attendant who was pretty awesome, to say the least. A very cheerful, nice guy.
Hi Tom - Thank you for choosing NW Self Storage for your storage needs. I can assure you that our building, while "quirky" is up to code and environmentally friendly; recently we took advantage of the energy credits and retrofitted the entire building with energy saving fixtures and lighting. We pride ourselves in providing a safe environment to store your belongings, we have cameras, on-staff security who performs random walk throughs throughout the day, and we lock the building down every night at the close of day. Our store is located in the SE Industrial District and while this neighborhood seems to be rapidly growing and changing it is still home to some of our cities homeless population.
- Manager's Response
Disappointed at the level of security, given the transient nature of the neighborhood. Also, the upper portions of the storage units are only secured with the lightest duty chicken wire. This led me to spend more than I otherwise would have on insurance.
Decent storage, in a good location.
