Good price, sketchy grounds
Honestly the people all seemed very nice, however Upon entering the storage area there were several of what looked like broken down cars strewn about. Then after opening my new unit there was a bunch of stuff that needed to be moved out still in there, the staff was very friendly though and came to help pull the stuff out and blow out the unit as soon as they saw me and my boyfriend doing it. After putting a row of boxes in, a rat ran out from who knows where as the unit is small and enclosed and we didn't see him when it was all cleaned out.... the price is good but with the random people milling about and what looks like living in their cars or storage units I'm a little afraid if my stuff will still be there. There is video surveillance however even with that I'm still quite worried. Not sure If I will keep my belongings there, as my piece of mind is worth more then the upcharge of another place....
Thank you for your comments. I wish you had mentioned your concerns or seeing a mouse/rat at the time you moved in when Michael was helping you, when we have spoken on the phone since then or yesterday when you came to update your contract with an additional authorized tenant for your unit. However, this is the first we are hearing of any concerns you might have had. To address your concerns: 1) Michael's car did break down on the day that you moved in. Unfortunately, it was near the office when it quit running and he was working on it in that area so that he could both watch for customers coming to the office and to get the car running as quickly as possible. Since he was able to do that, I believe you will now find the car is no longer where you saw it and is no longer being worked on. This was a very unusual circumstance and, typically, vehicles are not being worked on on our facility grounds. 2) The few items that were in your unit when you moved in were left by a previous customer who had assured us all items had been moved out. Unfortunately, because of the vehicle problems Michael had been dealing with that day, he hadn't had a chance to check the unit before you arrived. But, I am glad that he was able to remove the items for you and clean any remaining dust from the unit so you were able to place your belongings in the unit. 3) As far as the rat/mouse goes, while removing the remaining items from your unit before you moved your belongings in, Michael didn't see anything in your unit and was surprised to hear of anything since, as you say, he just finished using his blower on the unit and blowing dust, etc. from it. It seems like a mouse would have been easily detected at that point and even blown from the unit while the blower was in use. Please rest assured that we do everything we can, including having the facility professionally treated, among other things, to prevent any rodent from being in a unit. 4) Regarding "people milling about and what looks like living in their cars or storage units." We have many tenants and, as a result, people are often coming and going, especially on the weekends when, if I'm remembering correctly, you moved into your unit. So, there were likely a fair number of people doing things in their units, hauling belongings, etc. It is not unusual for a tenant to spend a significant amount of time at their unit sorting through their belongings to organize them or find a particular item. So, I suppose one could consider they are spending "too much" time at their unit but it is within their rights to spend all day there (during open gate hours) should they choose to. However, nobody is living in a unit or their vehicle (which is prohibited by company policy, the rental agreement, etc.) so I'm not sure where that impression may have come from other than someone lingering at their unit sorting, etc. Again, please rest assured that we try our best to keep a close eye out for anything that looks suspicious, out of line from what is allowed at the facility, etc. and, if anything of the sort is seen, an individual will be asked to immediately leave the facility or it will be dealt with as is appropriate to the situation. We have a wide variety of tenants, both individuals and businesses, that all come with their own personalities, styles, quirks, looks, etc. and, although they and their approach may differ from what another person's might be, we try our best to make certain all have a positive experience while tenants at Sentry Storage. We appreciate you choosing us and hope if there is anything we can do to make your experience at our facility better, you will speak to us personally so we are aware of it immediately and can do what may be necessary to correct the situation. Thank you!
