Very affordable, centrally located.
Overall a good place for short or long term storage. Very nice staff. Access to units is not the best, this is due to the retrofitted facility.

They where very good at helping me understand the paperwork and types of units they have.. Assisted very well in moving my things and storing them.. Their customer service was great.. Sending a big thank you to Joe, Shane, and the other employee who helped me as well..

Very friendly staff
The staff was really helpful and friendly. Prices were pretty low so I guess it wasn't a huge surprise the unit was a tad dirty. My unit was really far in the back so it was difficult getting to it with the design of the building, had gotten "trapped" at one point and couldn't exit for 45 minutes due to another person blocking the way out.

Guys running the place are very nice and professional. Storage areas are only wood, but inside the building. Definite mice problem. Location is handy.

Thomas, Thank you for your kind review. However I would like to address your statement regarding a "rodent" problem. What you may of seen are "decon packs". These are preventive measures we use to combat any vermin that may come into our facility with someones belongings. These are placed in every vacant unit before it is rented. In addition to this we also have a bi-monthly pest control service just to make sure are facilities are always free of vermin. Thank you, Josh Paterson Director of Operations

Customer Service Went Down the Drain
This was my third time renting from A-American on Vandeventer. First two times: almost no problems whatsoever (besides business operating hours). The third time I rent, I do so for a week's-long stay and plan to have the unit for no longer than a month. Long story short, details spared, miscommunication (or a lack of communication, for that matter) on their part caused me to "blindsidedly" be forced to pay for another month of rent on my unit. The other option they gave me: pay for my unit, but vacate whenever you want. This was somewhat understandable due to "policy," but what really pushed me to write a review like this was the lack of customer service. After explaining my situation the clerk on duty - (after making me stand outside for 7 minutes while he took care of another customer who arrived after I had) - told me there was nothing he could do except hand me over his manager's number. If I waited until the next day to call the manager I'd be slapped with a late fee. Congratulations, A-American Storage. You're $50 more profitable, the proud owner of another not-so-good review, and a business with one less customer (who'll be passing the word on to others).

I was mislead by the ad online and the picture since you cannot access your unit at anytime only during business hours. The facility could really use sime cleaning especially the restrooms. The one out by my storage unit off of the dock is a saniatation and health hazard. The storage units are not really secure because you can go over the tops into other units. Onenofnthe workers was.very rude at first but she became very helpful and apologetic during the processing and I would recommend her because she was very knowledgeable about the process and what was available, she recommended a unit that worked for them and us since we were in a tike crush.

Lead us to default
Our emergency became their gain.. The entire contents of our home went into their facility. Upon setting up a financial plan, they asked for beyond what was possible, especially according to the calendar. We couldn't meet the dates, but I was forced into taking the agreement to avoid an auction. I called daily before the due date with no return calls to attempt to set something up that would prevent default, then it seems convenient that I finally get a return call the day after a due date. Stating they are moving to auction. They only gave the choice to pay the entire amount, there was no negotiation. This is bad business, they knew what they were doing, by not returning my calls.

We at A-American Self Storage never look to profit from storage auctions. That is why our auction process is almost twice as long as other operators. We often wait until tenants are four months past due before we sell units at auction. Other operators sell delinquent units that are only 65 days past due. In addition to this we send out extra notices that are not required by law in an effort to reach and resolve all delinquency issues with our tenants. While other operators demand all past due rent and fees to remove a unit from public auction, we often settle for 75% of what is due in an effort to prevent our tenants belongings from being sold. We do sympathize with your loss, however we are also running a business and auctions are a small, but necessary evil in the self storage industry.
