Detroit was one of the hardest hit housing markets during the last financial crisis, but the resilient Midwest metropolis is making a comeback.

At the end of August, home prices in the Detroit metro area were up 67 percent from their 2011 low, according to the Detroit Free Press. That’s good news for homeowners who hung in during the worst years of the recession.

While home values are making a come back, they are still among the lowest in the country. Coldwell Banker recently named Detroit the most affordable housing market in the country, and that is attracting a wave of millennial homebuyers looking to put down roots.
