Houston, Texas is a 21st century boomtown. Of America’s biggest cities Houston is growing the fastest, with whole town’s-worth of people moving there each year. Cranes crowd the sky, new towers rise, and the suburbs continue to swell up around the outer highway loops. Houstonians are well aware of the reasons for their city’s phenomenal growth, but those Americans elsewhere in the country are often not aware of the extent of Houston’s growth or the main ingredients that drive it.
