As cold weather approaches and food sources start to diminish, small mammals and birds begin stockpiling food. For some animals hoarding is critical to survival

Humans hoard food too–the success of bulk warehouse clubs like Costco and extreme couponing are just two examples of hoarding instincts at play.

People have come along away from storing our precious food in caves or carrying everything with us on our backs. Now we have refrigerators pantries, deep freezers, and of course, grocery stores to ensure we stay fat and happy.

Wild animals, of course, must do without these modern conveniences. Here are 10 of our favorite hoarders:
