The Self Storage Association, the national trade group for the self-storage industry, has promoted Timothy Dietz to chief operating officer from senior vice president of government relations.

In his new role, Dietz is assuming more responsibilities while continuing his management of advocacy for the group’s 5,500 members. Dietz joined the association in 2004.

Michael Scanlon, president and CEO of the association, commended Dietz’s work as a spokesman and lobbyist for the self-storage industry. Scanlon announced in September that he plans to retire this year.

“As I look toward retirement this fall, I know for sure that he is prepared to take on additional responsibilities that will take the SSA to the next level,” Scanlon said.

Before joining the Self Storage Association, Dietz held a variety of positions in government relations. He is a graduate of George Mason University.

“I look forward to working closely with Mike and the entire SSA team as we continue to provide our members with a superb association experience,” Dietz said.
