A self-storage facility with 110,000 square feet is coming to a Marrows Road industrial park. The New Castle County Council in Delaware approved the project at 1 Forge Drive in the Tralee Industrial Park. CubeSmart plans to knock down the existing warehouse and replace it with a new, climate-controlled warehouse with self-storage units, office space and retail space. The new building will have the same footprint as the old one, but also will have twice the square footage.  Source: Newark Post

U-Haul plans to build a self-storage facility in Danville, VA following the company’s purchase of almost 9 acres northwest of Riverview Drive and east of Park Avenue. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Riverview is scheduled for completion in 2023, with more than 100,000 square feet and at least 700 indoor units. Source: PR Newswire

In Florida, the Palm Coast Planning Board approved a special exception for a separate self-storage facility to be called RF2 Storage, on 13 acres, along with mini-warehouses and office warehouses just two parcels to the north, near the Toscana subdivision. RF2 will have 698 units over 87,000 square feet, with an additional 68,600 square feet of 127 covered spaces for boats and RVs. Source: FlaglverLive.com

The planning board in Bernardston, MA sought answers from a Las Vegas, NV company that’s applying for a special permit for self-storage. The questions regard sign verbiage and illumination as well as climate-control capabilities. The hearing will resume on Feb. 17. Patriot Holdings LLC hopes to build 10 metal self-storage buildings at 107 and 111 Northfield Road (Route 10),  taking up 39,975 square feet on about 8.5 acres.  Source: The Greenfield Recorder 

Jacksonville, FL-based Atlantic Self Storage purchased the closed Metro Entertainment Complex in Riverside, FL for $1.85 million. Atlantic has applied to open a 150,000-square-foot, four-story storage building on 3.43 acres at 859 Willow Branch Ave. Atlantic Self Storage operates 51 facilities in Northeast Florida.  Source: JDR

Miller Valentine Construction, in partnership with MV Investment, has started building a climate-controlled self-storage facility with 883 units on West Tennessee Street in Tallahassee, FL. It will have three stories and 118,500 square feet. The opening is scheduled for late 2022. CubeSmart will manage the property. Source: Miller Valentine Construction

A $4.8 million expansion is beginning at U-Haul Moving and Storage at Marshall Avenue and Whaley Street in Longview, TX. The project will add a three-story, climate-controlled self-storage facility with 664 units. The site already has 128 units, which are humidity-controlled but not climate-controlled, and 88 drive-up storage units for a total of 216 units. Source: Longview News-Journal

Amazing Spaces Storage Centers has broken ground in Houston, TX, on its sixth storage property, at the intersection of Buffalo Speedway and the Southwest Freeway, and designed to serve residents of Greenway Plaza, Upper Kirby and River Oaks. The company said its projects are known for their ski-lodge look and that it offers storage for self-storage, wine storage, and RV and boat storage. Source: Hello Woodlands

Four new self-storage facilities are coming to Lakeland and Polk County, FL. One is under construction north of Sam’s Club on Lakeland Highlands Road. The Planning and Zoning Board has approved a second at Kathleen and Knights Station roads, but it awaits review of its site plan and building permit. It’s planned for west of Walgreens and McDonalds northwest of the intersection A third facility, at 2575 Harden Blvd. just north of the Azalea Park retirement community, has been proposed. And a fourth facility has been proposed for the northeast corner of East Memorial Boulevard and Lake Parker Avenue. In Lakeland, inside the city and unincorporated areas, there are 49 parcels dedicated to self-storage. Source: The Ledger

Construction of the Westport Properties Self Storage facility in Los Angeles, CA, is complete. The company will sell and operate the 1,182-unit, 157,116-square-foot property at 4800 Valley Blvd. under the US Storage Centers brand. Source: Construction Review Online

William Penn Climate Controlled Self Storage has opened at 2600 William Penn Highway in Palmer Township, across the street from Easton Area High School in Pennsylvania. It has 110 units spread around 25,000 square feet. The owners are Juan and Melanie Martinez, and they renovated a former warehouse for this project. They also will plant one of their five Don Juan Mex Grill restaurants next to the self-storage facility. Source: McCall
