Columbia, MO-based self-storage operator StorageMart is merging its third-party call center subsidiary PhoneSmart with self-storage technology company OpenTech Alliance.
The move comes after the departure of PhoneSmart’s longtime head, Tron Jordheim.
“We salute Tron’s creativity and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said StorageMart president Cris Burnam in a statement.
PhoneSmart’s third-party call center, which handles calls for a number of different self-storage operators, will merge with OpenTech’s INSOMNIAC LIVE call center over the next several months. OpenTech’s call center also provides services to a number of storage operators as well as providing support for its 24-hour self-storage rental kiosks.
New team formed
Meanwhile, StorageMart has launched a new internal department, the Sales Resource Center, that will exclusively provide call center, sales and customer support for the company’s more than 150 locations.
StorageMart hired Lucia Darnell as director of the Sales Resource Center. Darnell previously was assistant vice president at PhoneSmart, where she has worked for more than 10 years.
Burnam said the new department will help StorageMart reach its goal of being the “most dynamic and customer-orientated company in the storage industry.”
“StorageMart is ready for the future and we are preparing for significant growth,” Burnam said.
StorageMart also created two new roles for a pair of veteran employees as part of a “revamp” of its marketing department. The changes follow the departure of Jordheim, who also served as chief marketing officer of StorageMart.
Sarah Little-Chittum was named director of digital marketing and Nick Confer was named director of digital marketing analytics.
The pair is responsible for the relaunch of the company’s website this past July.
