Sovran Self Storage, operator of Uncle Bob’s Self Storage, recently purchased at certificate of occupancy a recently constructed self-storage facility in North Miami for $11 million.
The facility, at 640 NW 133rd Street, was developed by Northbrook, IL-based Banner Storage Group. Banner purchased the 1.3 acre property for $1.125 million in 2014, according to local property records.
Sacramento, CA-based Gallacher Development and its subsidiary Self Storage Ventures have obtained approval to build a 75,000-square-foot self-storage facility in Fishers, IN, a suburb of Indianapolis. The facility will offer 850 units of drive up and indoor climate-controlled units. The facility is expected to open in spring 2017.
Indianapolis-based French Property Management is seeking approval for the construction of a 650-unit storage facility on a brownfield site at 1450 N. Pennsylvania Street in downtown Indianapolis, IN. The facility is expected to cost $8 million, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal. The facility will be managed by Extra Space Storage. French Property operates five facilities under the Storage Depot name and has four additional facilities under construction.
A new 60,000-square-foot self-storage facility is coming to 2422 Laurens Road in Greenville, SC. CubeSmart will operate the facility, which is slated to open in June 2016, according to the Upstate Business Journal. The facility is a conversion of a former furniture store that closed in December. The facility is slated to offer 460 units.
Morehead Storage Associates, a company affiliated with StorCon Development LLC president Jonathan Dorman, plans to build a 100,000-square-foot storage facility at 600 W. Morehead Street in Charlotte, NC. The five-story facility will be located adjacent to the Bank of America stadium, according to the Charlotte Observer. StorCon develops properties for Florida-based Budget Storage. The facility will feature offices, shops or restaurants on the ground floor–a requirement of recently passed zoning regulations that allow storage development in areas zoned for mixed-use.
U-Haul is converting a former furniture and appliance store at 1180 Mid Valley Drive in De Pere, WI into a full-service moving and storage facility. U-Haul acquired the property last August. The addition of a second floor offering 1,000 climate-controlled units is expected to be completed soon.
