On May 15, Ironside Storage opened a self-storage facility in Redmond, OR. The facility is at 2260 SW 6th St. near Redmond Municipal Airport. It has 549 units spread across 79,198 rentable square feet. Designhaus Architects designed the facility. BECON Civil Engineering & Landy Surveying, based in Bend, OR, developed the site. Uprite Construction, from Irvine, CA, handled construction. West Coast Self-Storage Group, based in Everett, WA will manage the facility. Construction has begun in Coconut Creek, FL, of a new grocery store, drive-through coffee shop and a self-storage facility. Strada CC Development LLC will build a Sprouts Farmers Market (23,256 square feet), Cali Coffee (1,500 square feet) and Sentry Self-Storage (120,164 square feet). City commissioners last May approved a rezoning needed to put up the development on vacant land next to Regions Bank, Walgreens and a three-story medical office. Source: Tap Into Coconut Creek

U-Haul purchased a former Kmart building at 1005 E. Columbus St. in Kenton, Ohio that it bought Feb. 9. The 11-acre property is being repurposed to be a retail, moving and self-storage site. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Kenton, with 95,000 square feet, is converting space into 720 indoor climate-controlled units. A temporary retail showroom offers truck and trailer rentals, U-Box portable storage containers, boxes and moving supplies. Source: PR Newswire

SecureSpace Self Storage has opened a new self-story facility, called SecureSpace Los Angeles Avalon, in Los Angeles, CA. The newly built site is at 6500 Avalon Blvd. and offers 89,127 square feet of climate-controlled space. The facility is on the heavily trafficked Avalon Boulevard, less than one mile from the 110 Freeway. SecureSpace now has 10 stores open in the Los Angeles MSA and another three under construction. Source: PR Newswire

Budget Store & Lock, in partnership with Trinity Real Estate Services LLC, will open its new self-storage facility on May 16. It’s located at 2813 Lehigh St., Whitehall, PA.
