What’s different about this project is that an artist, not yet chosen, will design a three-floor mural on one end of the building, and it will provide a special view along the 14th Street Viaduct. A StorPlace Self-Storage facility and retail space will be coming to 7118 Nolensville Road in Nolensville, TN after approval from the local planning commission. The facility will have more than70,000 square feet for storage units. The retail portion will have 30,000 square feet and two tenants already have opened: Dickens Turf and Landscape Supply, and Burn Boot Camp. David Kidd Architects and William Johnson Architects are designing the site, with Harvest Construction LLC as the contractor. The facility is expected to open in early 2019. A vacant warehouse in Weston, FL, will be developed into a self-storage facility at 1500 N. Park Drive in the Weston Park of Commerce. Real estate investor Leo Ghitis purchased the vacant site for $8.1 million. The site includes 84,672 square feet of warehouse space and 5,948 square feet of office space. The Havins Co. Inc. has broken ground on Silverbell Self Storage in Tucson, AZ. The urban renewal project is located at 2720 N. Silverbell Road. Features will include rainwater harvesting, native landscaping, keypad access and more. President Herb Havins also owns Ajo-Kinney Super Storage in Tucson and is president of Pima County Market Data Services. Source: Arizona Self-Storage Association

Jernigan Capital Inc. of Memphis has invested $9.4 million into a self-storage facility in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The facility will have about 58,000 square feet. Jernigan will work with Self Storage Associates Inc./Richard Beavers of Ocoee, FL to develop the site. The two companies previously teamed up on five other self-storage developments. Construction will begin in Q2 2018, with completion expected in January 2019. Source: Memphis Business Journal

The Belleville (NJ) Planning Board approved a plan to redevelop an 18.7-acre site next to the Clara Maass Medical Center into a four-story self-storage facility plus a pharmacy. The self-storage portion would have 25,000 square feet. Source:


Tod Sherman opened at 21 E. Clay St., a 20,000-square-foot building with room for 156 storage units in Lancaster, PA. ImageFirst and Nixon Uniform previously owned the building. The project cost $2.1 million, including $300,000 to purchase the property.
