The Montgomery County Planning Board will meet Dec. 14 to consider complaints by environmental and community groups about a proposed self-storage facility in the Bethesda, MD, neighborhood of Westbard.
The developer, Bethesda Self Storage Partners LLC, would like to build a 195,227-square-foot facility at 5204 River Road, with four levels below ground and five above it. It’s by a stream valley buffer for the Willett Branch, and water-quality advocates say the new facility would not help restore the stream.
But the developer claims the building would be outside the stream buffer area, and has offered to give .39 acres covered in grass and trees to the park system.
Generation4 Partners LLC of Fort Lauderdale, FL, plans to build a seven-story self-storage facility at 644 N.W. 30th St. in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami. The real estate developer bought two parcels totaling .56 acres for the facility, which will have 143,080 square feet of storage. It will break ground in early 2018 and open in early 2019.
