TDAK Development and Burke Development plan to build a new, 60,000-square-foot self-storage facility in Seffner, FL, and it would be the area’s first new such facility in 18 years. The 6.5-acre site is located at the northeast corner of East Hillsborough Avenue and Pine Street. The project will be built in two phases and result in 450 units. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2019 and to finish in fall 2019. TDAK is based in Seymour, IN, and Burke in Clearwater, FL.
The village board approved a special-use permit for a self-storage facility on the south side of Mundelein, IL. Big Door Garage Suites will build 35 units on 2 acres on Wilhe Road, west of Reidel Road. They’ll range from 560 to 1,500 square feet and will be for sale. Prices will start at $131,600. The company said possible items that could be stored include classic cars, boats and recreational vehicles; other uses include offices, hobby spaces, art studios or leisure places. Developer Irv Cyzner of Cyzner Properties hopes to convert a Branchburg, NJ, office building into an Arthur’s Self Storage facility. The 40-year-old office building is at 3421 Route 22 East and has been empty for at least 2½ years. Cyzner bought the building about 1½ years ago. He said the new facility would include a cave with wine storage for restaurants and caterers. He also plans to put up two more buildings plus a storage area for boats, trucks and cars. In Florida, Generation4 Partners has started building a $9.8 million dollar seven-story SpareSpace Storage building in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood at 644 Northwest 30th St., west of Interstate 95. It will have 143,080 square feet and is expected to open in summer 2019. Generation4 bought the 0.56-acre development site for $2 million. Source: Florida Construction News

Northwest Self Storage is building a $6 million three-story building in Bend, OR. It will have 80,000 square feet and 584 units, and should be completed by the end of November. Source: The Bulletin
Rosemurgy Properties teamed with Sentry Self Storage to get a $10.4 million construction loan, which they’ll use to build a new self-storage building in Hollywood, FL. Construction has begun on the five-story, 120,000-square-foot building at 2060 Coolidge St. It will have 870 climate-controlled units and is expected to open in summer 2019. The Jenkins Organization Inc. is expanding Leander Storage, just north of Austin, TX, adding about 30,000 square feet. That expansion will add 167 climate and non-climate-controlled units. The expansion company began in September and is scheduled to finish in March 2019.
