Metro Storage LLC opened new self-storage businesses in Line Lexington, PA, and Westhampton Beach, NY.

The Line Lexington store, 4671 County Line Road, has two stories, 785 climate-controlled units and 79,383 rentable square feet.

The Westhampton Beach facility, 105 Old Riverhead Road, is  three stories, and has 689 units and 77,000 rental square feet of climate-controlled space.

U-Haul Moving & Storage at S. Campbell, at 3150 S. Campbell St. in Springfield, MO, plans to add 722 climate-controlled storage units following its purchase of a 63,512-square-foot former Porsche dealership. The existing U-Haul site will serve as regional marketing company offices, a reservations department and a warehouse of U-Box portable storage containers. A 96,685-square-foot former Sears store at Manatee County’s DeSoto Square Mall is being converted into a self-storage facility in Bradenton, FL. MCG Bradenton Sears LLC, which is registered with Madison Capital Group of Charlotte, NC, wants to build a Go Store It Self Storage there. The former home of the Brunswick Zone may be divided up between a new self-storage facility, a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and car wash at 2075 E. Algonquin Road in Algonquin, IL. A Committee of the Whole had initial concerns about the development. Developer Steve Schwartz thus made changes to the original plans and the committee gave its approval. Self-storage may be coming to a former Sears store at 1334 E. 79th St. in Avalon Park, IL. Farpoint Development owns the site; the Sears store closed six years ago. The city approved a permit for the building’s interior. It’s not known yet if the full two-story structure will become self-storage, when it would open and who would operate it. Zion Crossroads Mini Storage has broken ground on a 7-acre site across James Madison Highway (Route 15) from the main entrance to the Walmart Distribution Center in Troy, VA. It will have 43,000 square feet of storage space and 385 units spread over five buildings, with half the space being climate-controlled. Neighborhood Self Storage is the parent company, and it has storage facilities in seven Virginia cities, including Charlottesville. CW Investments LC of Lyndhurst, VA is the majority owner. Owner/developer Drury Properties Inc. is putting up an 88,000-square-foot Sixty5 Self Storage at 2107 S. Eastgate Ave. in Springfield, MO. The three-story building will have 627 climate-controlled units. Rich Kramer Construction is the general contractor. The estimated $3 million project is expected to be finished in March 2020. Connolly Brothers Inc., a general contractor and construction management company, completed a 130,000-square-foot self-storage facility in Everett, MA, for Jumbo Capital Management Inc. In Alabama, the Birmingham City Council approved a 90-day extension of an ordinance preventing new self-storage businesses from being built in the city. The council first imposed the ban on July 2, for six months. The ordinance prevents new business licenses for self-storage in areas zoned M-2 or I-2 (heavy industrial). Source: Al
