Sentinel Self-Storage opened its fifth Sherwood, OR facility at 15200 S.W. Century Drive. Langer Family LLC built the facility. It offers 677 storage units spread across 68,460 rentable square feet.  Retail and office rental spaces also are available. Matt Langer developed the property. West Coast Self-Storage Group manages the new facility, which has 36,000 square feet of retail space.

Completed

A new construction project may start this year at 1006 S. Walnut Street at the southwest corner of South Walnut and West Allen streets. The Bloomington, IN-based Brawley Investment Group plans to build a four-story, 33,000-square-foot self-storage site. Brawley bought the property in 2018 for $825,000. The city plan commission unanimously approved the project in November.

U-Haul Storage at Canton Road opened a 694-room facility at 858 Piedmont Road at 2000 Canton Road in Marietta, GA. It sits on 2.2 acres and is next to parent store U-Haul Moving & Storage. The site has room for nearly 700 indoor climate-controlled units.

Planned

Developers Ellen and Jim Boyle will have to start a two-year process anew after they proposed to change how the property would be used. “I don’t think it’s appropriate for the applicants to continue down this avenue without applying for a new public hearing,” said Jon Goddard, town planner, noting that he has met with the Boyles to try to find a solution. The Boyles’ have been trying to obtain a permit from the planning board to build a 59,000-square-foot self-storage facility at 662A College Highway in Westfield, England. Board Chair Michael Doherty asked Goddard how the Boyles’ reacted after being told they needed to start the process again. “It’s fair to say the applicant leaned into the university that these two activities are compatible,” Doherty said.
