DXD Capital broke ground on a 357-unit self-storage facility in Kihei, Hawaii on Maui. The facility (above) will have 357 units totaling 45,463 NRSF, located in the Maui Research & Technology Park in Kihei. It will offer non-climate-controlled units and is designed to help Maui’s commercial customer base. The facility is planned to open in Q1 2025. Rycon will be the general contractor and American Savings Bank is the construction lender. Extra Space will manage the facility. DXD Capital is a self-storage private equity investor.

The town of Hadley, MA is considering a large self-storage project that would use about 5 of the 19 acres behind the Campus Shopping Plaza, 38-454 Russell St. James Martin, an attorney with Pullman & Comley LLC of Springfield, told the planning board that the key to the proposal is to divide the parcel so that the units are on a separate site from the shopping center, which includes Stop & Shop, TJ Maxx, Liquors 44 and H&R Block. Go Store It Self Storage, an affiliate of Madison Capital Group, opened a climate-controlled facility on Rosemead Boulevard in Pico Rivera, which is 11 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, CA and 25,000 vehicles pass through daily. It has 48,000 square feet of rentable storage space spread across more than 600 units (above). Adam Lentz, West Coast Development Partner at Go Store It, said that Pico Rivera “has prohibited the development of new self-storage facilities” and that Go Store It “ … collaborated with City Officials and Staff to demonstrate that the existing storage options were insufficient to meet the growing demands of residents.” Approval has been given to add 350 new residential units within a quarter mile. SRC Holdings Corp. just opened the 300-unit Enterprise Self Storage facility at the intersection of Sunshine Steet and Enterprise Avenue at 1610 S. Enterprise Ave. (below), Springfield, MO. It has units for boat and vehicle storage. Enterprise Self Storage is part of SRC’s decade-long plan for diversification, including real estate development. BlueGate Boat & RV Storage opened a new facility at 356 Oates Road, just off West Plaza Drive at I-77 in Mooresville, NC. It has 342 covered units for owners of boats and RVs just minutes from Lake Norman, about 20 miles north of Charlotte. The Mooresville location is BlueGate’s sixth operating facility.
