The Bronx is the second smallest of the five boroughs by population and land area. It is almost twice the size of Manhattan in terms of land area, but had about 200,000 fewer inhabitants in the April 2010 Census. The Bronx is the northernmost of the five boroughs, and Bronx County was the last county in the state of New York to be incorporated. Unlike the other boroughs, the Bronx is primarily located on the New York mainland. The Bronx also contains a few islands such as Riker's Island, which houses NYC's main jail complex. Although the Bronx experienced significant decline beginning in the 1960s, the borough has made a significant cultural and economic revival in the last decade.

The West Bronx

This neighborhood is the area closest to Upper Manhattan, historically known as The Annexed District. It's the most hilly part of the Bronx. Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees and notable for being the most expensive baseball stadium ever built, is located in West Bronx.

West Bronx zip codes include 10451, 10454, 10455, 10456, 10457, and 10459. Use these zip codes in SpareFoot's search to find storage in this particular area.

The East Bronx

The East Bronx is located further from Manhattan, has a less dense population, and contains a much flatter landscape than the West Bronx. While the West Bronx continues Manhattan's numbered street system, the East Bronx has few numbered streets.

While New Yorkers historically saw the Bronx as being divided into east and west neighborhoods, the notion of the South Bronx being a separate neighborhood became prominent in the 1960s and 70s as urban decay affected this area. Today, as the area has been restored by economic development, the east and west conceptualization of the Bronx is again becoming more prominent.

To search for storage in the East Bronx, use zip codes 10472, 10473, 10460, 10461, 10462, 10466, 10467, 10469.
