In Youngstown, OH, U-Haul is going to transform the artists’ space at Ward Bakery (above) on the West Side to self-storage. U-Haul will renovate the 1024 Mahoning Ave. building and open in spring 2025 with up to 800 climate-controlled storage units “preserved to maintain as much of the original character as possible,” the company said. The building is located across the street from a U-Haul storage facility and truck rental business at the former Isaly Dairy plant. Dozens of artists who rented space were evicted from the building to make way for the project. The owners, who owned the building for about a year and were previous tenants, were forced to sell due to costly repairs they could not afford to make. Source: The Vindicator
