After seven years on the job, David Rogers will step down as CEO of Williamsville, NY-based storage REIT Life Storage effective March 2019.

The company will promote current Chief Investment Officer Joseph Saffire to the top spot. Rogers will retain a seat on the company’s board of directors.

“His efforts to advance our real estate investment and third-party management strategies and operations have better positioned Life Storage for further growth,” Rogers said in a prepared statement.  “I look forward to collaborating with him over the next six months to ensure a smooth transition, and with my fellow board members to position Life Storage for continued success.”

Rogers joined the company, then called Sovran Self Storage, in 1995 as its chief financial officer.

Joseph Saffire will become CEO of Life Storage effective March 1, 2019.

“It is an absolute honor to lead Life Storage through our next phase of growth,” Saffire said in a statement.

Prior to joining Life Storage in November 2017, Saffire held executive leadership roles over a two-decade banking career across three continents with HSBC, Wells Fargo, and First Niagara Financial Group.
