Storage Inns of America, which is based in Washington Township, OH, plans to bring more self-storage to the area with the construction of 80,000 square feet spread over nine new buildings at 1840 Woodman Center Drive in Kettering, OH. It will be built on 5 acres and will include household units, commercial storage for businesses and vehicle-storage areas. Ashford Construction of Centerville will begin construction in the fall, and the opening is planned for Q2 2022. 

Also, Storage Inns is completing a 43,000-square-foot expansion of its site at 1881 S. Metro Parkway in Centerville. 

In addition, StorageShop USA, a commercial storage and office warehouse condo provider based in Verona, WI, seeks to open an office and warehouse on Washington Church Road in the township. Source: Dayton Business Journal


A self-storage facility may be coming to a 6-acre site near State Route 20 in Henry County, GA. It’s on a lot that’s between a future gas station and Simmons Manufacturing. An applicant hopes to build a self-storage business in this space. Source: Moving Henry Forward

Boardwalk Development Group of Suwanee, GA, opened its fourth investment fund, Boardwalk Storage Fund IV, which will focus on self-storage assets in secondary and tertiary markets in the Southeastern United States, as did Fund III. BDG has raised $15 million for the new fund and plans to buy 12 to 15 properties. The company is an owner, manager and developer of self-storage. Source: Boardwalk Development Group 

A self-storage facility is proposed for a former garden center property at 129 Amity Road in New Haven, CT.

The City Plan Commission in New Haven, CT, approved a four-story, 64,033-square-foot, 481-unit self-storage facility at 129 Amity Road. Glen Greenberg of The Owl Shop controls the holding company that owns the property, which is a 0.74-acre triangular plot of land at the town border with Woodbridge. Under construction

The Hampshire Cos. and its joint venture partner, Blumenfeld Development Group, held a groundbreaking for a new Extra Space Storage facility at 71 Jane St., Roslyn Heights, NY on Long Island. It’s scheduled for completion in Q2 2022, and will have 691 units and 98,326 square feet. It will be The Hampshire Cos.’ 44th Extra Space Storage property in the eastern United States. The site formerly held a manufacturing facility and is on the New York State Brownfield Site list. The developers plan to do a full remediation of the land before building the property.
