Honestly Speaking
Let me begin with that I do appreciate the services you provide. I would have never expected that my life events would lead to needing your services. The process of reserving and check in online are easy and efficient for someone with a busy schedule.
Honestly speaking, I nearly walked out the Electra Drive location without finalizing the rental. When I walked in, I was not greeted verbally or with eye contact. I stated I was there for a reservation and to view the unit. Almost immediately the manager addresses me about a unit that I didn't reserve, the fact that it was only accessible by stairs because the elevator was out and no idea when it would be fixed, so if I agree to rent it I also agree to having to move my things in via the stairs. The whole time without any eye contact or taking to time to verify who I was. This was the point I began to turn on my heels and walk out. So I decided to clarify which unit I reserved to make sure it was still available. They then "loosened up" and interacted better with me. In the end I rented the unit because it fit my needs.
However, I realized a few items regarding the unit that I wanted to address, but because of my experience, I am unsure on how to proceed. I rented a 5x20 outside unit that has a standard entry door. When I returned to bring some items, I realized the doorknob is not secure. It appears at some point prior to me renting this unit, someone tried to break into the unit. The cylinder covering the hole where the inside handle would be has a gap, which allows anyone to look inside the unit. Which leads me to the latch attached to the frame and door that is to secure the unit. It's not sturdy and looks like a quick fix instead of a proper installation. In addition to this, the door is severely weathered. More paint is off than on the door, which over time can reduce the integrity of the door. It looks absolutely horrible. When I first saw it, I thought it was just rust from the weather conditions, because my focus was on the size of the unit. I drove around the property to view the other doors and all others were in pristine condition. Grant it, these are items I should have noticed upon inspection and I'm not faulting you with what I didn't see at the time. However, I am bringing it to your attention now.
As of today I have yet to move my things into this unit because of these concerns. I believe it is your policy for renters not to change any physical aspects of the unit. I'm grateful for this survey to voice my concerns and experience. What happens at this point will determine whether I continue to rent this unit.
