The Roll Up: Retirement community plans new storage facility in PA

Garden Spot Communities is launching ELANCO Self Storage on Ranck Road in New Holland, PA. The facility will take up 10 acres of a 12-acre tract of land zoned as light industrial and is owned by Garden Spot Village, a retirement community that operates as a 501 not-for-profit organization. The other 2 acres, zoned residential, have a cooperative living house built in 2018, with plans for a second one concurrent with the storage project. Phase One has a price tag of $5.5 million and includes one large climate-controlled building with 245 indoor units, and two smaller structures, each with 70 units. A second phase could add 200 units.

Basis Industrial will develop an 855-unit self-storage facility in Voorhees Township, just outside of Philadelphia in southern New Jersey. The facility will have 113,000 gross storage and climate-controlled units. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and to finish in fall 2024. WSFS Bank provided $12.1 million in construction financing for the construction. Berkadia arranged the loan on behalf of Basis Industrial. Public Storage will operate the site. Superior Storage Group LLC is an applicant that hopes to bring a self-storage facility to Dexter, MI. Superior has submitted an Application for Special Land Use to the City of Dexter Planning Commission for a land-use request hearing on Oct. 2 at the City Council Chambers, 3525 Broad St. Maui Properties LLC owns the property, which is at 2558 Bishop Circle West. The Development Review Board unanimously approved Barrett Enterprise’s plan to add 42 units total to two buildings in Montpelier, VT, including some on the same River Street parcel that the Washington County Railroad bisects. The site covers nearly 6 acres. The project is south of the tracks on a 1.75-acre portion of the larger parcel that is home to the 12,000-square-foot Trading Post. Source: List Self Storage

Proffitt Dixon Partners in Charlotte, NC finished development of Carraway Self Storage, a 93,000-square-foot, climate-controlled facility of four stories at 500 Myrica St. in Chapel Hill, NC.
