The Roll Up: Go Store It converts Hobby Lobby in Louisiana

Go Store It opened its newest facility at 1683 O’Neal Lane in Baton Rouge, LA. It has 86,680 square feet of space and more than 550 units. The company, based in Charlotte, NC, is an affiliate of Madison Capital Group and has more than 6.5 million square feet of storage space under management and construction. The site is in a former Hobby Lobby building, which Go Store It bought in May 2021 for $3.9 million. Go Store it has 88 facilities across the United States.

In August, Go Store It opened a new facility at 8500 S. Tryon St. in Whitehall Technology Park in the Steele Creek suburb of Charlotte, NC, the company’s home city. The site has 73,655 square feet spread across more than 600 units. Liberty Construction was the general contractor on this project.

The Warren County Commission in Warrenton, MO, voted unanimously to approve a measure requiring self-storage units to obtain a conditional-use permit before building. Commissioners act on a recommendation from the planning and zoning commission taken in June. Source: Warren County Record

City officials in New Castle, PA approved the tearing down of the vacant Lockley Manufacturing building in order to construct a four-story self-storage facility at 306-310 Grove St. The board also approved the developer’s request to go taller than the allowed 45 feet. The developer is Asset Realty and Construction Group of Brooklyn, NY. The 310 Grove Street Opportunity in Brooklyn was bought in January for $303,000 from MRJ Management, which is listed as a Pennsylvania company. The West Coast Self-Storage Group, based in Everett, WA, announced the opening of Storage Solutions Riverside at 34919 N. Newport Highway in the Riverside neighborhood of Chattaroy, WA. It features RV storage units and self-storage units. The site soon will operate as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer. Russell Page Architects, based in Spokane, WA, designed the facility. StorSafe Self Storage, located at 3950 W. 73rd Ave. in Merrillville, IN has expanded with two new climate-controlled buildings that total 12,000 square feet of vehicle space. The facility includes storage units plus RV and boat parking. Elmdale Partners, a real estate investment firm with brokerage and property management operations in Skokie, IL owns StorSafe. A self-storage facility opened on the site of a former Kmart, which closed in 2017, and adjacent Kmart Service Center buildings at National Storage, 1290 N. Monroe St. in Frenchtown Township, MI. Land parcels in the parking lot are for sale and other businesses are expected to build there. The new facility has 782 rentable climate-controlled units. The new site is New Hampshire-based True Storage’s first facility in Michigan. The company converts industrial property and former big-box stores into self-storage facilities. Farmington Hills-based Pogoda Cos. will manage the new site. Source: The Monroe News
