StorSafe Self Storage hopes to benefit the environment as it builds a 10,665-square-foot expansion to its facility in Michigan City, IN at 2600 S. Franklin St. The expansion will add 82 new climate-controlled storage units.

The addition includes an onsite water-management system to collect and clean stormwater, and it’s coupled with a loading dock for semi trucks and moving vans. Today, StorSafe of Michigan City provides 384 climate-controlled units and an 11,700-gross square-foot loading dock with a total of 44,000 square feet.

“Each community engagement, especially here in Michigan City, extends beyond a mere business project – it’s a partnership, one that stimulates the local economy and champions mutual growth,” Tom Bretz, CEO of StorSafe, said in a release.

Prior to being converted to a self-storage facility by a previous operator, the building was home to an Al’s Market grocery store until 2012.
