Public Storage continues to reign as the world’s largest self-storage operator by square footage. The usual suspects round out the top ten.
But the new Top-Operators List for 2015 published by Inside Self-Storage also offers a glimpse into which independent operators have grown the the most since the last list was released a year ago.
Several operators also earned a spot on the list that were absent last year. The list ranks self-storage operators, both owners and management companies combined, by the number of square-footage they control.
Another notable change on this year’s list is that number six on the 2014 list ,SmartStop Self Storage, dropped down to number 32 as its portfolio is pending an acquisition by Extra Space Storage.
