The Roll Up: SecureSpace completes new Manhattan self-storage facility

SecureSpace Self Storage opened a new self-storage facility in Manhattan, NY, to be called SecureSpace Manhattan. The newly built facility is at 424 E. 90th St. and has 88,630 square feet of 100% climate-controlled space. SecureSpace is based in Redondo Beach, CA.

The LeClaire-Schlosser Group of Marcus & Millichap announced the sale of a 7.5-acre storage-development site at 340 Crossroads Blvd. in Windsor, CO. The city has approved plans for a 78,550-square-foot facility. Thomas Parsons and Adam Schlosser, storage investment specialists in Marcus & Millichap’s Denver office, had the listing on behalf of the seller, a local land developer. A new commercial self-storage facility may be coming to Cedar Rapids, IA. Curt Eilers, a commercial property owner and real estate developer with Venture Real Estate in that city, got a conditional use permit from Johnson County to build a self-storage facility just east of I-380, north of the Swisher/Shueyville exit. It will be climate-controlled, with RV and boat storage spaces on a 6-acre lot. Eilers also hopes to have four buildable lots for sale or development. Source: The Gazette

In Ventnor, NJ, the Board of Commissioners and Planning Board will consider a redevelopment plan to put a self-storage building on an under-utilized, 2.9-acre lot owned by developer Steven Yenowitz of Ventnor Holdings LLC. The site would include an indoor storage building and room in the back for RVs and boats. The Planning Board will review the proposal at its Dec. 4 meeting. Source: DownBeach

A self-storage facility opened on a 1.32-acre site on 71 Jane St. in Roslyn Heights on New York’s Long Island. The site has four stories and 98,000 square feet. Extra Space Storage is the operator. The project cost around $12 million and was developed by Syosset, NY-based Blumenfeld Development Group and The Hampshire Cos., based in Morristown, NJ. The property had been vacant for a decade. Todd Flannery, owner of moving company Flannery’s Handymen at 111 Locust St. in Lynn, MA, has opened Boston Street Self Storage. It has 507 units. Flannery owns the land and has been storing his moving company’s vehicles there. The previous building was taken down and a new structure was built for the storage site.  Source: itemlive

Safeguard Self Storage finished expanding its parking space, adding 53 new areas at 1615 S. Kingsway Road in Seffner, FL. It now has 26,400 NRSF for parking. In addition to the traditional outdoor auto and boat storage parking, 38 of the new units are for covered parking, dedicated to RV storage and feature electrical hookups.
