LSC Development LLC opened a new self-storage facility in Glenview, IL at 3701 W. Lake Ave. It’s on a 5.6-acre lot, south of Northshore Glenbrook Hospital and near Glenbrook South High School.
The developer converted a pair of three-story, 1970s-style office buildings that formerly housed the Pioneer Press, medical and dental offices, and served as a training site for the Glenview Police and Fire Department. LSC added a one-story structure to connect the two buildings. The facility has 176 spaces for RV, boat and vehicle parking. The climate-controlled buildings have 81,113 NRSF spread across 74 storage units. The site offers drive-up, climate-controlled units and also offers two covered loading bay areas.

A new 100,000-square-foot, multistory U-Haul moving and storage store is coming to a 4-acre site at 4401 25th Ave. in Vernon, British Columbia. Completion is scheduled for fall 2025. U-Haul bought the property on Sept. 29. It will have more than 700 indoor self-storage lockers with climate-control options. The Turgeon/Spain families sold a site at 2176-2180 Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield, CT for $565,000. The buyer – BDC Holdings Inc., which is based in White Plains, NY – has plans that call for an 84,920-square-foot self-storage facility. The property is about 12 acres. Basis Industrial garnered an $11 million construction loan to develop a 955-unit self-storage facility at 2560 Aurora Road on 4.2 acres in Melbourne, FL. Berkadia, American Momentum Bank provided the financing for the 126,741-square-foot property, which Extra Space Storage will manage. Basis Industrial purchased the site in November 2022, along with a small-bay portfolio, for a combined $30 million. Kenneth Hobson, a Marcus & Millichap first vice president, represented the seller. President Anthony Scavo represented Basis Industrial in-house. Construction began in July 2023 and is scheduled to finish in fall 2024. It will operate under the Extra Space Storage name, and have three stories and climate-controlled units. In Virginia, the Henrico Planning Commission endorsed a proposal from General Land Co. LLC to build a self-storage facility and retail strip at the southwest intersection of Mountain and Woodman Roads, just off I-295 in Glen Allen, VA. Developer Renard Management of Mahopac, NY, wants to build a self-storage facility in Montgomery, NJ, where once stood a demolished office building, on Route 518. It would be next to Wawa, across the street from Bank of America and backing on the Montgomery Shopping Center. Renard seeks two buildings – a three-story, 123,295-square-foot structure and a one-story, 9,907-square-foot building – on the 2.99-acre lot. The Planning Board in Riverhead, NY will discuss a proposed self-storage facility located at 61 Main Road on Dec. 7. They will consider a two-story, 36,250-square-foot building to go on the 3.4-acre property. Existing structures on the site – a masonry commercial building; two one-story, single-family houses; a garage and shed – will be leveled. Extra Space Storage will run the facility. Mike Hebert has run out of room to expand his self-storage facility, Wintergreen Storage on Highway 13 in Ashland, WI, and wants to build more on Binsfield Road next to the recently opened Lakeview Veterinary Hospital. He aims to build four storage buildings with 100-plus units, similar to Wintergreen Storage. Hebert said that high demand would fill the new facility in about nine months.
