The Roll Up: Storage Units Capital opens new Ocoee, FL facility

Storage Units Capital, a self-storage real estate investment firm, announced the opening of a new property at 9000 W. Colonial Drive in the Orlando, FL, suburb of Ocoee. It sits on 3 acres, and it has 79,605 usable square feet and 766 units. There are three levels of climate-controlled units plus drive-through access. In addition, there are two retail spaces on the bottom level, and the facility has 30,000 square feet of corporate office space for Storage Units Capital and Rapid Construction Solutions, its affiliate, on the fourth floor. The company is building self-storage properties in Florida’s Fort Myers, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, Sebring and Cocoa. Their additions will expand the portfolio to 15 properties with about 15,000 units.

The Old Lyme, CT Zoning Commission issued its second denial of an application for a 31,500-square-foot self-story facility on Shore Road. Members again are considering tightening restrictions on the type of business that some neighbors say are out of place.
