Another potential owner has offered to buy the Roller Palace in Beverly, MA, and wishes to convert it into a self-storage facility. Eric Loiacano of Gloucester, with Sohier Road Self Storage LLC, has applied for a special permit and site plan review with Beverly. Loiacano would like to take the one-story, 56,147-square-foot building that’s home to the Roller Place, as well as Soccer Etc., an indoor soccer facility, and convert them into a two-story, 118,953-sf storage facility, plus add a second storage building with 12,000 sf. The plan includes 900 storage spaces plus office space.

Roller Palace owner Ken Breen said he and his family field several proposals a year to sell the property. He has said his family would sell for the right offer.

Jupiter Self Storage LLC, which has ties with self-storage developer Pinnacle Storage, plans to build a three-story, 700-unit, 97,500-square-foot facility in Jupiter, FL. The company spent $3.5 million for a 1.6-acre site, and would tear down the vacant Ellison Graphics building at 1400 W. Indiantown Road, starting in June, to put up a new building. Completion is expected during summer 2019. Life Storage, based in Williamsville, NY, will manage the facility. U-Haul will soon be presenting a modern self-storage facility in northern Shawnee thanks to the recent acquisition of a former Kmart at 2323 N. Harrison St.

In Oakdale, GA, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved a rezoning, from residential to neighborhood retail center, to allow a self-storage facility on the west side of Oakdale Road and the east side of South Cobb Drive. John Douglas Howser and Robert David Howser III were the applicants, and they dropped their request to include a retail component following initial feedback. Source: Cobb County Courier

The Burnsville City Council in Minnesota has backed a proposal to build a four-story self-storage facility at the southern tip of the Golden Triangle, which is between the split of Interstates 35W and 35E, and County Road 42. The location, on 1.7 acres, is the last undeveloped piece of the tip of the Golden Triangle. “It is a gateway to our city,” said Council Member Dan Gustafson. “It’s the first thing you see when you hit that split. You want something nice there.” Thus the proposed building includes glass, brick, decorative precast and awning details and design, all meant to improve the look of the self-storage facility. E&R Investments LLC presented the building plans. Developer Tulfra Real Estate will put up a three-story, 125,000-square-foot self-storage facility, which CubeSmart will manage, at 10 Kingsland St. in Nutley, NJ, on the Clifton border and next to Route 3. It will have 765 climate-controlled and 160-nonclimate-controlled units. HPI Horne Storage has closed its first self-storage developments in San Antonio, TX. The company is a joint venture of HPI Real Estate Services and Investments and Hugh Horne, a veteran of the self-storage industry. The first development is a 134,000-square-foot facility with 979 units at 10126 Potranco Road, with construction scheduled to finish in April 2019. The second development is at 12727 Vista Del Norte. This planned facility in San Antonio is the first for HPI Horne, industry vet Hugh Horne’s new venture.

Cimarron Storage, located at 6510 W. Highway 29 in Georgetown, TX, will add 14 new covered recreational vehicle and boat storage spaces. All will have electrical outlets and completion is expected by the end of June. New owners took over in July 2016 and have added two buildings and new office space.
