Moving is a big deal, and it can get stressful when life’s events necessitate a move into a bigger home, apartment or condo — or perhaps a smaller one.
Picking a professional mover can be overwhelming. Just what, exactly, should you look for and how do you choose? For starters, the size and distance of your move will inform your choices. If your move is local, you’ll have a host of local movers to choose from as well as national brands you can consider.
If you are moving across the state or out of state, your choices will be limited to long-haul movers.
The moving business can be rife with scam artists so use the utmost caution when choosing a mover. Get a personal referral from someone you know, if possible. If you can’t, here’s my list of the 10 best Dallas moving companies, in no particular order, to get you started on your moving company search.
Bellhops
Bellhops arranges friendly, low-stress moving services and what’s not to like about that? This tech-savvy moving service offers instant online estimates and booking without the hidden fees that are common in the business. It serves Dallas and mainly northern and eastern Dallas suburbs. Says Nancy N. on Yelp: “On a cold, rainy day, my Bellhops came to carry a ton of boxes, bed and couch up to the third floor of my apartment. All within an hour! They were so efficient and courteous.”
Expert Dallas Movers
These guys call themselves the “No. 1 Moving Company in Dallas” and people generally agree with that on Yelp where the company has a five-star rating. The company says it strives for repetitive quality customer service and “word of mouth” referrals. It offers its moving services at an hourly rate or a flat itemized guaranteed rate. In a Yelp review, Chelsea W. says she booked this company based on reviews. “I felt like our money was very well spent. The price charged was extremely fair.”
Miracle Movers
Miracle Movers has a top rating from HomeAdvisor where it had more reviews than other Dallas movers. The company advertises that it has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Miracle Movers also has a much broader service area than many of the other “local” movers, with services stretching into suburban cities and rural communities an hour or more away from Dallas-Fort Worth.
Wrightway Moving Co.
In a business where companies come and go, Wrightway Moving has over 18 years experience that includes packing, unpacking, moving and cleaning. The company has more than 1,900 reviews on Angie’s List with 1,525 of them A ratings. It offers discounts for moving at off-peak times.
Allied Van Lines
If you are making a long-distance move to Dallas, or sadly, if you are leaving Dallas, Allied Van Lines is one of the most well-known full-service, long-distance movers in the United States. While no company is perfect, this mover has been in business a long time and has fine-tuned its customer service.
North American Van Lines
North American Van Lines has been moving people across the country since 1933. That’s a long of time to perfect the process. They can box up your whole house and move it from one coast to the other. The company has a four-star rating on move.org.
Black Tie Moving
Black Tie Moving advertises luxury moving services at a cost-effective price. Each client is provided their own 24/7 moving concierge and $100,000 in accidental damage insurance. We also like that Black Tie was out front on the humanitarian front to get needed supplies to Hurricane Harvey victims last year. The company has appeared on Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles.
Phoenix Express
Phoenix is a smaller mover but will still move your goods across the country if that’s what you need. Yelp Reviewer Judith Z. was moving from a Dallas suburb to Idaho and chose Phoenix Express. “They got ONE truck full of a 3 Bedroom home with a lot of outdoor things as well. Jeff could have easily said a second truck was needed. He and his Team of Professionals packed it all BEAUTIFULLY into the 32 Foot,” she wrote.
Veterans R Moving Us
This company is staffed by veterans of the U.S. Military. Fast customer service? You bet. Says this Yelp reviewer: “When looking for movers, I sent about 6 different messages out to companies via Yelp. Veterans R Moving Us gave me a call within 10 minutes.” On its website, the company says its “goal is to help give back to our Veterans for their service and sacrifice towards our country.”
King Moving Co.
King will move virtually anything but specializes in antiques so you know they’ll take special care of your stuff. The company got its start moving antiques and decorative items for the many antique malls and interior designers in Dallas but now also move people into and out of new homes, condos and apartments. It provides full names and company names in the testimonials on its website which raises its trustworthiness in my book.
