How much space you'd need to store every New Yorker

There are times when you're on the subway where it can feel like the entire state population is in the same car as you. Well, we asked, what if they really were? What if you got the entire New York State population together, all 19.7 million people, standing shoulder to shoulder? What would that look like?

It's a deceptively simple question. We'd need to account for the different average sizes of men, women, and children. And then, what do we do about the, well, plus sized portion of the population? We probably need to give them more space.

We love challenging questions like this, so we pulled down demographic data on age, gender, and obesity in New York to get a more accurate answer to our ridiculous question. And because we're SpareFoot, we also figured out how many New York storage units you'd need to store every New Yorker. Check out our infographic below:
