Deceptive and Dishonest About Prices and Policies
Our entire experience with Belmont's Cube Smart has been one of bait and switch. It's their word against ours and they're "policy."
They advertise the "free" use of a moving truck as one of the perks for leasing a storage unit with them. As soon as I signed the lease it was apologetically pointed out that the truck was for move-in's only and could be used for only two hours. Obviously worthless.
The next month we downsized our storage unit and were able to utilize the truck since we were able to keep it within the time frame.
When we returned the truck (never even driven off the lot and literally driven 50 feet from one unit to the next on the same row), we were charged a $10 "admin fee" that was absolutely not mentioned previously.
When we downsized units, we did it purposely on the first of the month so we could switch from the old larger unit to the new unit without paying additional fees on either.
Our first month was declared "free" under the special they were running at the time and we owed only $12, which we paid on the spot (plus the $10 for the truck bait and switch deal). We asked several times if we were "all paid up" for the month and the were told that we were.
Six days later I get a phone call from Cube Smart as a "courtesy call" to inform me that my account was overdue. Thinking there must be some mistake, I reminded the rep that we were just in there on the first of the month switching out units and had paid everything in full for the month.
But there was no mistake. It was bait and switch again. And my word against the rep's word. "Very sorry... it's a little confusing when you switch units." As I told the representative who called me, I understand that it was not her fault for relaying the information to me, it is the fault of the franchise itself (or the owner). However, I will never use Cube Smart again, not in Belmont, not anywhere.
