Robot-like customer service and questionable policies
While I had a excellent experience moving in, I am not at all happy with the move out process and will not be using Public Storage in the future. First, unlike my CubeSmart storage facility, PS does not send out reminder emails and, while ultimately completely my own fault, I was charged a $15 late fee and only notified after the fact that I was late. Why did I bother giving you my email address and phone number if not to receive some kind of notification BEFORE the fee was to be assessed?? Second, when I then inquired about the move OUT policy I was told that a proration was available only until the 7th of the month. No explanation why only until the 7th and no logic from what I can see except to rip me off for 1/2 a month's rent for a unit that will remain empty. Proration is proration and it should not have this seemingly arbitrary cut off. Bottom line I am paying for a service I didn't receive. And don't bother with the "it's in the contract response". No one reads those and it's a cowardly excuse to hide behind.
