Bait and switch ridiculous fees make LifeStorage expensive n aggravating!
Bait and switch + ridiculous add-ons make this storage facility expensive and aggravating. The lady who booked my reservation over the phone told me that my rental came with a free moving truck rental. I confirmed this several times with her. However, when I called the actual facility, they advised me that they had no operating trucks. There was no compensation for their failure to provide what was advertised and promised. I was also told that I could email my homeowners insurance to avoid the $14 monthly insurance fee. However, when I arrived in person, the man at the front office advised me that I needed to have a hard copy and that they do not accept outside emails. I was also forced to buy their overpriced cylinder lock at $16 because no other locks will work. The man at the front desk has poor customer service skills and an overall unwelcoming, and even, combative attitude. He definitely did not care about my business, which he almost lost were it not for the fact that I simply did not want to go through the additional hassle of going to yet another storage company after bringing my stuff there. To make matters worse, they do not send bills by paper mail or email, so you have to remember to pay or get slammed with late fees or worse. Seems like the company designed their policies to hurt their customers and maximize their own profits. They will not be keeping my business for very long. My unit is approximately 10 x 11. It will cost me close to $175 a month with all their additional fees! And that’s just the PROMOTIONAL price that will go up whenever they please. I much prefer my 15 x 15 Public Storage unit in Deerfield Beach that I’ve had for a year and a half and which only costs me $120 with all fees and taxes included. And that’s the price AFTER the promotion ended. I also think I got shafted on the one month free promotion bc rent starts on the first of the month and I moved in 3 weeks into the month. I wonder if anyone cares to retain my business.
