Stay away from the insurance they try to force on you!
I reserved my space online and upon arrival was shown a space better than expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only glitch was that they said I had to sign up for their insurance. If I confirmed that I had coverage elsewhere then I could call them back and decline it for a full refund. Within one week I confirmed that I was insured via my homeowner's policy. Then they told me that I had to go into a local Public Storage location, as I rented out of town, fill out the form noting DECLINE and fax it to them. When I called to confirm that they had received the fax I was told that I would be receiving a pro-rated check (when I paid with a CC) sometime in the mail. This doesn't sound like a full refund to me. Upon further investigation, I have been told that the insurance is OPTIONAL and not a Public Storage requirement at all. So now, when I thought I had a good experience, they have totally pissed me off!
