"Customers don't drive so good" and "it sometimes happens in winter"
I tried to move on my scheduled date, which was a Saturday. I did all the paper work online, so I thought I could roll right in. No such luck. I had to wait (and wait, and WAIT) on a front desk employee to show up. Eventually I met an employee, and I got a code for the garage doors. The employee also warned me that one of the garage doors is out of order, so everyone was using the same door for two way traffic and "customers don't drive so good". More on that below.
The code for the garage door didn't work. I had go back to the employee, who didn't want to deal with me because he had to "cut locks off doors", but he eventually let me into the facility using his code. His excuse for my non-functional code was "it sometimes happens in the winter." It's July, and we are not in South America. The entrance bay was a mess. There was trash everywhere, but no trash cans.
I found an open bag of rat poison in the storage locker, is that normal? I did eventually get my stuff moved in, and then it was time to leave. Guess what? I learned that the driving skills of the customers aren't bad. Everyone did a good job of communicating with each other while making 32 point turns around two narrow traffic lanes, and another customer used her code to let me out.
My greatest worry is that I will never have a working code for the garage doors, and I guess that's how public storage makes it's money; they keep your stuff locked up forever and you will never see it again because its always winter and the gate codes don't work!
