Outrageous!
Since all storage in Kingsville is REALLY expensive, we chose this one because it was fairly new. Today we are packing a 26' U-haul (rented elsewhere) out of a 10x30 unit. It's disgustingly hot. And, eventhough our unit has wiring and I light in it, the electricity isn't connected AND we're paying for a lighted unit! In order to plug in a box fan, we had to plug it into a live outlet near the office. The guy came storming out DEMANDING that we PAY him $10 immediatly for using his electric or he was calling the cops!!

This is a response to Mr. Casey’s complaint about TCB SELF-STORAGE.
Some of our units have an outlet and are charged an additional $10
monthly fee.
Mr. Casey had not requested such a unit and was not been charged for
electricity.
When I (Owner) first heard of the situation; I told my manager that
it “wasn’t worth the drama”
As a courtesy we could easily have overlooked the one day usage of a fan.
I didn’t realize that Mr. Casey had been running 4 fans for at least 4
hrs.; without authorization.
The gentleman was called on the issue and he paid a $10 fee. The $10
fee is meant to provide lighting, not to run several fans or an A/C
unit. Just to illustrate some possible abuses.
The following day Mr. Casey returned for an additional 4 hrs. Ten
dollars for the usage of 4 fans for a total of 8hrs. is not
unreasonable. This day he was reminded that since he had paid his
bill; he was certainly welcome to use the fans. He declined his right
to the outlet…
It is certainly true that a midday move in August can be very hot and
we certainly encourage all of our clients to select a more suitable
time of day for such a difficult project.
Had Mr. Casey discussed his need to use four fans I am sure that we
could have accommodated him.
A great deal of effort and finances are being dedicated to improving
the facilities for all of our clients at TCB SELF-STORAGE and it is
always sad when we fail to satisfy anyone.
We would never resort to calling the authorities except in the case
regarding the safety of our employees and tenants.
