Beyond Self Storage is building a large self-storage facility in Cincinnati, OH, with 139,000-plus square feet, three stories and 980 climate-controlled units. It’s being built on part of the former Cast-Fab property, just west of Oakley Station.

BSS Oakley LLC, an affiliate of Beyond Self Storage, bought the 3.5-acre site from Local Oakley LLC for $2.75 million. NorthPoint Development, the parent company of Beyond Self Storage, is the developer. Construction is expected to finish in September 2020.

U-Haul will soon convert the vacant Kmart in Bluefield, WV into a self-storage facility.

In West Virginia, the Bluefield City Board approved a change in the planned unit development of a former Kmart store near the intersection of Cumberland Road and Route 460. The approval means U-Haul will be able to convert the building from a retail space into a self-storage facility with as many as 750 units, plus a U-Haul showroom. In Kansas, the Overland Park City Council took actions that may result in having a new self-storage facility. The council put the Metcalf Crossing project back on track, giving developer Wes Grammar until Feb. 1, 2020 to begin construction that will include a self-storage building, car wash and office space; the self-storage facility must finish construction by December 2020. The council also approved a new financing plan for the site, and it’s contingent on the demolition of two derelict hotels, closed since 2017, at Shawnee Mission Parkway and Metcalf Avenue. Vineland Ventures LLC would like to add another 75,000 square feet of storage, which would replace the former ShopRite property at 215 N. Delsea Drive in Vineland, NJ. Vineland’s City Council next will consider the proposal.  Source: Vineland Daily Journal

Developers seek to build a self-storage facility at 412 S. Broad St. in Mobile, AL. The project would be a three-story, 21,422-square-foot metal building and it would go up in the Oakleigh Garden Historic District. Source: al.com

In Georgia, the Braselton Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Oct. 28 to consider a proposed self-storage facility on 2.038 acres at 7352 Friendship Springs Blvd. If the project is recommended for approval, the mayor and town council would hold a public hearing on a conditional use permit. A 57,000-square-foot High Country Self Storage facility is being built in upstate Lysander, NY. Construction is happening at the intersection of Route 690 and Church Road and Hencle Boulevard.  The business is expected to open in spring 2020. Source: Localsyr.com

Century Storage was converted from a former grocery store space in Dade City, FL.

Century Storage opened in Dade City, FL, as part of changes made to Morningside Plaza, which included a paint job, adding LED lights in the parking lot and installing a new pylon sign. CRF-Dade County LLC, which is part of Century Cos., developed the facility, which has 257 climate-controlled units and 34,000 square feet. It is Century Storage’s 13th such facility in Florida and was built on the former site of a Sweetbay supermarket. Source: Century Cos.

Mr. Storage has opened at 525 S. Main Ave., in an industrial park in Huxley, IA. It has 68 units and 14,400 square feet. The owners – Chris Gardner, Mark DeYoung and Grant Tjernagel – also run Mr. Storage sites in Boone, Madrid, Granger and Ames, all within one hour of Des Moines.
